Adam's Palm page
My last company bought us
each a Palm Vx, which is a very
cute gizmo.
Inevitably, I've done a bit of hacking and experimentation with it
in all the time I've had it. This page documents some of my
experiences/thoughts.
Must-have software
Applications
Extensions
- You need HackMaster. It lets
you turn on and off low-level system plug-ins known as "hacks" which
can greatly enhance your Palm experience. Here's a comprehensive list of all available hacks.
The following are must-haves:
- SwitchHack
and AppHack
for rapid switching between your most commonly used applications.
- FitalyStamp. Just
forget about Graffiti - take my word for it, you'll never
look back once you have Fitaly. It's easy to learn too.
If for some reason you're mad enough not to get Fitaly,
at least make your Graffiti existence a bit more bearable with
these:
Finally, AfterburnerHack is a very
neat hack for overclocking your Palm's processor - in software!
- Beambox is a handy way of sharing stuff with your mates via
infra-red, although either of the launchers
mentioned above possibly make this redundant these days. Looks like
the website has vanished anyway.
Internet / Communications
- Top Gun ssh
(and its
old home)
- Plucker -- an
excellent, free software offline HTML browser.
- Sitescooper -- a
great program for reducing the complexity of webpages to make
them more suitable for PDA viewing.
